For this recipe, we were inspired by the blogger, Minimalist Baker. We've made some adjustments.
For an oblong rectangular baking tray
Ingredients:
2 cups fresh* dates (you may replace some dates with golden raisins)
1/4 cup warm water
1/2 cup almond butter (or hazelnut or peanut)
2 tbs coconut oil
1/3 cup cacao
1/2 cup chocolate chips or 100 g of your favorite chocolate quickly ground in a food processor**
1 or 2 handfuls of pecan nuts for the topping
Add dates and water to a food processor and mix until smooth. It's ok if there are tiny pieces of dates left. Then add the butter, coconut oil, and cacao. Mix until the ingredients combine. If necessary, scrape down the edges with a spatula. And lastly, quickly mix in the chocolate. Add the batter to a baking tray and spread it evenly. Place pecan nuts on top. Preheat the oven to 175°C and bake for 15 minutes.
Use your imagination and tailor the recipe to your taste. Enjoy creativity and Bon Appetit.
*If you don't have fresh dates, soak the dry ones in warm water for 15 minutes.
**Grind the chocolate bar in a food processor before you mix the rest of the ingredients.
